worldview of『最』
When many things lie before us, we naturally wonder which one is the best.
The biggest.
The most beautiful.
The most valuable.
But 最 does not always have to mean standing at the top of someone else’s ranking.
Among countless autumn leaves scattered across the garden, the girl did not choose the largest or the brightest.
She chose the one that made her heart pause.
Each of us carries our own sense of “most.”
The place most precious to us.
The moment we remember most clearly.
The person we most wish to see again.
A “most” that perhaps no one else in the world can understand, yet our own heart recognizes immediately.
Perhaps 最 is not merely a word found at the end of a competition.
Perhaps it is a word for discovering, among the many things in this world, the one that becomes irreplaceable to us.

story of『最』
One autumn morning, the garden was filled with leaves trembling gently in the breeze.
Beside the veranda, a little girl gathered them one by one—red, orange, and gold.
Some were round. Some were slender. Some were slightly torn.
Even leaves fallen from the same tree were all a little different when she looked closely.
“Which one do you like best?”
At her grandfather’s question, the girl looked over her collection again and again.
She did not choose the reddest leaf.
Nor did she choose the largest.
At last, she gently lifted a small maple leaf.
When she held it toward the morning light, delicate veins appeared within its crimson surface, as though a tiny world were hidden inside.
“This one.”
The girl smiled, and her grandfather smiled quietly beside her.
“Perhaps ‘the best’ is something we each have to discover for ourselves.”
Because there are many, there can be one that feels special.
Holding her chosen leaf carefully in both hands, the girl raised it once more toward the autumn light.
