流 – Flow | Kanji Art
on the surface of the night river,
small lights drift slowly
and begin to float away into the dark.
with both hands gently extended,
two brothers send off their lanterns,
entrusting them to the quiet current
along with a wordless prayer.
the trembling reflections on the water
look like memories setting out on a journey —
meetings and farewells,
joy and sorrow,
all carried softly downstream.
in the kanji “流”
lives the sense of something
that never stays in one place,
but keeps moving on.
the flow of time that cannot be stopped,
hearts that change little by little —
the river holds them all,
and still continues forward.
in this scene, the moon above
and the lantern light below
seem to lean gently toward one another,
as if to watch over the path
these fragile prayers will follow.
each time you look at this piece,
it quietly reminds you
that even as things drift and pass on,
their light can continue
into the future ahead.
